Grupo Santander announced the creation of a new holding company, composed of Santander, Warburg Pincus and General Atlantic. Under the terms of the agreement, Warburg Pincus and General Atlantic will jointly control 50% of the holding company. Banco Santander Chile will distribute the products of the fund manager for a period of 20 years.

USD2 billion pension portfolio in Latam whets appetite of Itaú AGF
The local manager of the Brazilian group has just registered a mutual fund with the Risk Rating Commission and hopes to attract investments from pension funds.
Itaú will not be the only AGF with ETFs based on the IPSA or IGPA indexes
The exclusive agreement with the Santiago Stock Exchange relates to commercial use of the brands but does not limit their replication by other managers.
Foreign managers do not fear competition from local mutual funds
The Pensions Superintendency established procedures for accounting for shares which allow AFPs to use local mutual funds to invest offshore.
Still unclear how the Afores will invest in mutual funds
Despite the new memorandum issued by the Consar, Afores and fund managers are still not sure how mutual funds can be included in investment portfolios. Investments will not be allowed in local funds, only international.
