Salas will help build relationships with sovereign wealth funds, pension plans, investment consultants, corporates, insurers, wholesale clients and family offices.
Noting that the Afores were born in 1997 and turn 18 in 2015, Luis Palacio, sales director of BNP Paribas Investment Partners in Mexico, says: "They have reached legal age and must be allowed to make decisions like adults."
His replacement, Carlos Hardenberg, who has been part of Templeton's emerging markets team for 13 years, will relocate to London as part of the reorganization, effective October 1.
"At some point, we will see additional volatility and that creates opportunity for active managers to identify risks and generate alpha," said Joe Flaherty, chief investment risk officer at MFS Investment Management.
