Neuberger Berman has secured approval from Pershing and other global platforms to list the Ireland-domiciled version of its popular Global Thematic Equity Fund, a high-conviction fund with the 28-year track record in the US.
The low-turnover fund takes a thematic approach, focusing on global trends lasting seven to 10 years, and invests in just 20-30 companies. The fund is benchmark agnostic and maintains flexibility by not limiting itself to hard regional or market-cap limits.
The fund’s five-year annualized return through March 31, 2018 was 10.6%, vs. 9.7% for the MSCI World index.
Current themes of the fund, which is managed by a team led by 38-year industry veteran Daniel Paduano, include rising value of water, humanization of pets, energy infrastructure and personalization of media, among others.
The Irish version of the fund is currently available on Pershing’s offshore fund platform, as well as on most European and global platforms.
Third-party firm Becon Investment Management, based in Buenos Aires, is responsible for distribution of the fund throughout most of Latin America.
