New advisory designation marks resumption of private-banking activity in Argentina

While local companies can fit into this category, it is expected that foreign banks that left the country due to lack of legal protections will try to make landfall again in Buenos Aires. To do this they will have to open offices in the country and register as an AAGI.

Chile’s Moneda latest to make leap into Argentina

Moneda has USD 6.5 billion under management and specializes in equity and debt analysis of Latin American companies. It also has a New York office. BTG Pactual, LarrainVial, UBS and Julius Baer are all eyeing the Argentine wealth sector.

Julius Baer may enter Argentina via investment in TPCG brokerage firm

Baer, Switzerland's third-biggest private bank behind UBS and Credit Suisse, wants to purchase a roughly 20% stake in TPCG, a brokerage, wealth manager and research provider based in Buenos Aires and with offices in Uruguay as well.

Chile-based LarrainVial will cross Andes to open Buenos Aires office

LarrainVial is in the process of obtaining a brokerage license in Argentina, which should be approved very soon. The office will be headed by Sebastian Caronni, an Argentine national and partner at the firm, who previously worked at Banco Santander.
